Having trouble with vision and hearing
I have a chow that is 13 years old next month. She has gotten a little slower the past couple of years and she appears to be having trouble with her vision and hearing. The past week her eyes have been watering and matting up. Today it looks like her right eye has something coming out of it. It looks greenish white and there's a lot of it. She's not acting like it's bothering her much. I would just like to know what it could be. Should we take her to our regular vet? She hates going anywhere these days....or is there something we can do at home?
Unless your regular veterinarian is prepared to do a house call, I am afraid that you will have to take your chow to the veterinarian. Old dogs do slow down and begin to lose their vision and hearing, but "something coming out of" an eye could be serious.
