Fireworks and Dogs
Do you have any information regarding behavioral-/ health effects of pyrotechnic-/firecracker sounds on dogs, the same as with birds. I heard already that by these occasions some bitches already lost their babies, while some cockatoos, especially the Philippines (red vented cockatoo), have had heart attacks and died.
I have read stories in the past that animals, like humans, can be frightened to death from a sudden boom or blast. Birds especially in the hundreds have been reported to die from a sudden blast. I am not sure if smaller firecrackers could cause this but larger firecrackers certainly could cause this condition. In the United States around the 4th of July, when we celebrate our countries independence, we in the animal field always try to warn the public as to the ramifications that fireworks can cause on our pets.
