Treating Yeast Infection in Dog's Ear
I need some information on treating a yeast infection in the ears of my shih-tsu, please.
Yeast infections (Bacteria) can be a real challenge in eradicating. They can be chronic to say the least. You can use over the counter preparations or you can make up one on your own. According to "Homeopathic Care for Dogs and Cats" by Dr. Don Hamilton, he recommends that you use vinegar and water, use 5 to 25% vinegar and the rest water. The vinegar kills the yeast. You can also use 1/2 ounce olive oil and 200IU of vitamin E and 1/4 teaspoon of tree tea oil (this is optional). Keep the ears clean and dry.
As I mentioned this can be a chronic problem for some dogs. You may have to see a vet if this does not go away.
