Kennel Cough
Kennel Cough
Kennel cough is an infection of the dog's throat and bronchial tubes and is similar to the cough associated with the human cold. Untreated, it can lead to pneumonia and/or bronchitis.
Kennel cough is spread through airborne water droplets where dogs are kept together in close quarters, such as kennels and dog shows.
Symptoms include a convulsive, coarse cough, fever, lack of appetite, nasal or eye discharge and lack of physical energy.
Prevention is the key in fighting this life threatening disease. If you are planning to board your dog this winter, your kennel will require proof that your dog has been recently vaccinated. Call ahead in advance to find out the requirement in you area.
