Lab Puppy shakes and whimpers
I have a question regarding the 6 week old chocolate lab puppy I purchased the other day. She is very timid and shy, It seems like everything scares her. She shakes and whimpers constantly. I was wondering if this is common for puppies that have been separated from their mothers and siblings or if this is a condition that may last through her life. Help! This is causing my boyfriend a lot of stress, he initially wanted this dog to later train to hunt with him, but now he's not sure whether or not it was a good idea. I love this dog and she is a wonderful puppy, but I' m not sure whether or not to be concerned about this problem.
This is related to the fact that your pup was taken too early from its mother. I recommend that puppies stay with their mother until they are at least 9 - 10 weeks. They learn much needed socialization skills and they learn independence from their mother. The condition will get better and she should out grow it. If she continues, see if you can get her back to her mother for a couple of weeks.
