Dog Run and Going to the Bathroom
We recently purchased a dog run to put our dog in when we go to work. He will not go to the bathroom until we come home, we have even left him in there over night and he refuses to go until we let him out, I don't think it is to healthy for him to go so long without going. Is there anything I can do to encourage him to use part of his large dog run to go to the bathroom?
Some people write to me with the opposite problem, getting their dogs to not go in the dog run. I agree that leaving him in there to long is not good if he is not relieving himself. Can someone come home for lunch or can a neighbor come over and let him out? If not you are going to have encourage him to go. I would take some of his stool and put it in one end of the dog run. Sometimes by putting the stool there he will get the idea. Urinating will follow once he starts defecating. try this and see if it works.
