Lab Jumping the Fence

I have a 6 month old lab mix - male, neutered. He keeps jumping the fence - any suggestions regarding how to keep him in?

This is a common problem with some dogs and you have to nip in the bud while he is still young. Some dogs have a desire to always know what is on the other side of the fence. I would recommend that you first enroll him in obedience classes and teach him the necessary commands that he needs to know. The exercise will help with your situation.

If he continues you can do a couple of things, one install a secure dog run made of chain link. You can also install one of the invisible fences www.radiofence.com that emits a slight shock when he approaches the fence. I would recommend the dog run first. If you do, you have to exercise him every day. Now, most dogs will out grow this and being that he is a puppy the chances are good. Exercise him daily, practice the obedience training and look in to the electronic fences.
