You may be called upon to apply a bandage to the foot or paw. The type of bandage material used often determines the success that you have with bandaging. It provides gives you a view of some of the types of bandages available.

When applying a bandage, you need to follow some basic rules:
1. never apply the bandage too tight
2. always place some type of padding under the tape being used
3. make sure the tape at both edges of the bandage are in contact with the hair (but not constrictive)Some dogs will not leave any type of bandage in place.

Most dogs will leave the bandage alone if the bandage is comfortable and not constrictive.
